HA’WE’EEEEN!

(…at least in this hemisphere.)

You know what this means, folks? You DO know, right? That means NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow! So, today there is one last prompt and then ISADG takes a (planned, this time) break for the entire month of November, though there may be some NaNo news and cheering and excerpts. Probably some inducement of brownie cravings.

Yeah. Definitely some inducement of brownie cravings. Trust me, stock up on supplies now.

In December, we’ll be back with a schedule of one title or prompt per day for Story A Day December. I… know, it’s not as catchy as NaNoWriMo. But! For now, one last short story or flash prompt:

The day after Halloween, your main character happens upon an old book with strange writing. Then what?

As always, leave your story here as a comment or a link.

Pick a Prompt

I know. I know this is late. Disregard that. Instead, write a story for one or both of these:

Plot prompt – A man (or woman) stumbles across a pirate radio station and becomes obsessed with it.

Character prompt – Madiera Silverton (and, if you deem him important enough, her husband Carrollton.)

BRAND! NEW! THING!

Suddenly: a contest!

…and that’s about all the detail I can provide right now.

No, okay, I have a few more things. I’m not sure when we’re going to do this, but it will likely be in the next few days (I’m angling for the weekend, myself). There will be voting and prizes. There will be a 48 hour turnaround time and because of that, yes, we WILL have a specific theme or a prompt of some kind, though not a title. There will be, if I know the kind of crowd I attract, trash talking and blood and gore. You know, good times!

(I’ve no idea what the prizes will be yet, so don’t get too excited. Right now I have, like, a $5 Amazon gift card and a picture of a frog. But the bragging rights are priceless, amirite?)

Tell your friends! Or tell your enemies, especially if you think you’re that good and want to crush them under your mighty, writerly feet.

“What Happened in Ms. Hagerton’s Garden”

If my sister does not write for this one, I shall be sorely disappointed.

If you see her, please tell her so.

“Still in the Original Box”

Pristine or claustrophobic?

“Heat Seeker”

What’s the term for alliteration in the middle of a word? You know, not rhyming and not homonyms, but… oh, like these words? You… know? What I mean?

Yes, so do I, I just can utterly not come up with the word right now. Help me out.

“Vicar”

I think unavoidably of British sit-coms, but try not to let that limit your creativity.

“Currently Indisposed”

Again, it’s funny how sometimes these titles seem to follow each other as part of a series, innit?

“Postorgasmic Depression”

To be written entirely in French, for full effect.
